Hi everyone! I hope you have all had an awesome day so far. Maine has had some unusually warm weather for May. One year we had snow on Mother’s Day but yesterday it was 80 degrees at 9:00 in the morning. Today I am sharing some ideas for stories that I would love to see! Now you might be thinking, you’re a writer, why don’t you just write these yourself? Well, for one, I can’t write in every genre. My preferred genres to write in are sci fi, fantasy, and contemporary. I also don’t have the time nor the brain cells to bring these ideas to fruition. There are probably writers out there that could make these ideas a reality and have them be totally awesome. So, here we are.
#1: Historical fiction set in Australia or New Zealand
Seriously, have any of you read historical fiction set in Australia or New Zealand, because I would love to read it. Honestly, I’d love to read anything set in the Down Under. I think Australia is so cool but I haven’t heard of any books set there, specifically historical fiction, because who wouldn’t want to read a story about like, fancy people in dresses and suits with pet Koalas or something? I don’t know, it just sounds really cool to me.
#2: Space pirates!
A friend of mine was writing a story about steampunk pirates a while ago but I never had the chance to read any of it. How awesome would it be to have a book about space pirates? I guess you could call Star Wars a saga about space pirates, but I want a book version. I actually started drafting this but didn’t get past characters and a crappy first chapter. Maybe I’ll come back to it.
#3: A book that basically encapsulates every AJR song
Okay, so I’ve tried doing this, and it wasn’t bad, but I really think someone could do better than me. Like, I need a book that makes me feel the same way The Click and Neotheater and OK Orchestra do. That’s probably asking for a lot, but it would be totally cool.
#4: More stories with alopecia reps
I am currently working on including an alopecia rep in a project of mine, but one character with alopecia doesn’t really do anything. That’s like saying one character with anxiety is going to change everything. I can name multiple characters with anxiety, but zero with alopecia. Where are we?
#5: Multimedia-like novels
When I say multimedia, I mean novels that include poetry, art, cross-genre writing, etc. I’ve seen anthologies in this format, but I haven’t seen a novel. A novel that has a plot line but is really immersive and engaging and different, that’s what I want.
I hope you enjoyed this post and if you know of any books I should check out that fit with these ideas, let me know in the comments! What do you want to see come to the literary world?
